Ear wax
   
In most cases basic ear mantainence can be done at home, with a ear cleaning solution recomended by your vet or groomer, and regular cotton balls and q-tips. Ask your Vet or Groomer to show you how to properly massage the ear to loosen wax and dirt. and what to watch for. It is a good idea to get to know yourpets Vet and Groomer doing so can save you alot of time andmoney in the long run.
Hematoma
   
A hematoma is a pocket of skin containing blood, usually a hematoma is a pocket of skin containing blood,usually found on the ear. Caused by violent shaking of the head, and striking the floppy part of the ear on the head or other objects.(usually due to a abnormal amount of hair suddenly being removed from ears) Causing a blood vessel to rupture in the ear. Hematomas can also be caused by dog scratching the ear due to infection or irritation. A hematoma will look and feel swollen and will be sensitive to touch, and even to sound. To prevent further damage place a snood or something to keep ears next to pets head until you can get to the Vetrinarian. The ear will need a minor opperation to releive the destention and stop the bleeding.
Otorrhea(otitis)

Caused by an infection or by parasites.Usually causing the dog to scratch to the point of bleeding.Otorrhea not to be confused with otitis media , Causes the skin on the outer ear to become sensitive and warm to the touch. Te best solution is to see your veterinarian.
Otitis Media
    
Otitis Media is a when the ear becomes inflamed caused by an infection of the external ear canal. It can also be triggered by and infection of the nasal passage.Some signs of this condition are fever, pet will be in pain, could possibly cause loss of balence. Immediate Veterinary treatment is necessary.
Ear Mites (ododectes)
   
Ear Mites are parasies that infest a dogs ear. In most cases pawing at, shaking of the head and obsessive scratching at the ear are the first signs of ear mites. When inspected you will find a dark, waxy secretion from the ear along with a sour odor. Veterinary care is necessary.
